At Counter, we flip the script on traditional consulting and that doesn’t stop when it comes to our Consultants. Counter Consultants aren’t just allocated to clients – they choose to work with them. That choice fosters commitment, alignment, and a real sense of ownership from day one. In this blog series, we’re shining a light on the talented individuals behind our counter-consultancy model – the people bringing energy, curiosity, and a problem-solving mindset to every engagement.
Today, we’re interviewing Zack, part of the Counter Team within Manchester Airports Group (MAG): an engineer whose breakthrough into tech led to a passion for accessibility.
1. What’s the main reason you chose to work in tech?
I chose tech because I like making things that help people.
2. What’s one challenge you’ve tackled at MAG that made you feel proud?
Pushing for use of reduced motion as an accessibility option because its important, helps people and is often not thought about.
3. What do you enjoy the most about working as part of the Counter team?
The support you get from having a dedicated Tech Lead and having a team that you know have a shared experience gives me a lot of confidence to get involved.
4. How do you ensure your work aligns with MAG’s culture and goals?
We work in such close communication with the existing MAG team it would be hard not to! But personally I try to focus on where my goals and passion overlap with MAG’s. For me thats a commitment to accessibility.
5. What motivates you to go above and beyond for clients like MAG?
The decision to work with Counter to provide such an accelerated opportunity to people trying to break into tech is something I feel a great deal of gratitude for. I want to show that was the correct choice both for myself and to keep the door open behind me for others looking to break into tech.
